Ready... Set... SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!
The end of school is always busy, but this year seems to be more so (gee, I wonder if it's because we have a toddler to add to the mix?) This week we have 6 softball games scheduled - after the season was suppose to end LAST week. These are all due to make-up games due to rain outs and it doesn't include MacKenzie's team playing in an end of the season tournament on Saturday. Add that to cheerleading, a drill team picnic, volunteer training, lifeguard training, PTA dinner, end of season party, dentist appointment, parent meeting to learn next year's duties, two school assemblies and "trying" to work full time and why should I be surprised I can't keep my sanity - or my gas tank filled? (Not to mention the new driver in our house NEEDING to go SOMEWHERE all the time :)
I was sad to hear our elementary principal has accepted a job elsewhere. He is on the fast track to success and much too good to hang around here for too long. We were blessed to have him for four years and now he's off to middle school. He has done so much for our school. MacKenzie has one more year in elementary and I thought we could make it - but maybe not. We are wanting to move north, toward Denton, but have decided to wait until Katy graduates next year. She says to move now, but I don't really think she wants that.
So ... I'm off and running to my next appointment. Write more soon...

Stepped on a pop top and broke my flip flop...

Yes, Jimmy Buffett was in town, how did you guess? My (15 year) anniversary present to my husband (and mostly) to myself was to go to the Jimmy Buffett concert last weekend. Of course the greatest thing is to watch all the parrotheads before the concert. We got there three hours early and still had to park on the "back row" ~ we are talking about the parking lot. Our seats were really good, but as the title of this post indicates, Bob "stepped on a pop top and broke his flip flop" BEFORE the concert started. He jumped out of the truck and into a rut ~ we were parked in a field after all.

His ankle immediately swelled up to look like an elephant hoof. Great way to start out the evening. Then of course, our seats were on the OTHER side of the stadium and down (and back up) about 100 steps ~ but Mr. Hobble and Mrs. Crutch voyaged on!

I made reservations at the Westin (IT WAS THE ONLY HOTEL AVAILABLE BOB) which was in a word... awesome. Definitely one of those "100 things to do before you die" . The Westin has recently decided to promote their Heavenly Bed. Kind of reminds me of The Princess and the Pea story... but not. If you have never slept on one, write it down on your to-do list ~ you won't be sorry.

Next year we've decided to rent an RV and stay for a day or two ~ not that we'll be much closer to the front, I think some of those people come a week ahead. Renting an RV turns out to be pretty inexpensive. I checked on it when we got home and told the girls that was our next vacation venture. Katy immediately left the room, Sydney said "You're kidding, right?!?!" and MacKenzie was ALL for it... When can we go???

We had a great time despite the ankle injury. Mr. Hobble was a trooper ~ he wasn't going to let his 20 lb. ankle ruin his time, or mine.

It's crazy that it's been 15 years since I married Mr. Hobble. I love him like it was only yesterday and I would do it all over again. :)
